Security allows security parameters to be applied to an item in the Directory and any external system mapped to it.

  1. Open Directory

  2. Browse to an item and click on the name to bring the user into the panel properties.

  3. Click the More Actions menu, and select Security.

Note

If the user doesn’t have the View Project Team Permission, the Project Team tab will be hidden and only the Explicit Security tab will be shown on the security dialog.

Field

Description

Member

Displays the name of the member

Role

Displays the role assigned to the member

Join Date

Displays the date the member was added to the project team

Is Implicit Membership

  • When a workspace is created via CSV with security, then the value will show is_implicit_membership as true. When this happens, a tooltip will show for the member with the following legend: User was imported into the project team from source system and cannot be deleted.

  • When security is added from UI, then the value will show is_implicit_membership as false.

System

Displays the icon for the associated system.

Allow Access

Displays whether access is allowed for the member or not

Actions

Allows editing the properties of the member

  1. Select the Add memberMember button on the right side and provide the following information:

  2. Do you want to add a user or group? Select a user (or group if you selected the group option)

  3. Project Role: Adds one of the available project roles to the user or group

  4. Allow project Access- Yes or No. If set to yes, this grants access for the user or group to the project.

  5. Set the Apply to Systems toggle if desired.

  • Check the apply to all sliders to apply to all systems available.

    • Otherwise, check each system to which you want to add the user or group to with the role.

  1. Click Save.

Info

You must have map the system mapped in CAM in the Administration-> External Systems panel. Otherwise a warning will appear.

Explicit Users

  1. Clicking the Explicit Security tab allows you to view a list of members with explicit security and add members with explicit security to the access control list (ACL) even if they are not a member of the team.

  1. Select the +Add button on the right side and provide the following information:

  • Do you want to add a user or group?

  • Select a user (or group if you selected the group option)

  • Permission: Select either Allow or Deny.

  • Security Role: Select the role to be associated with the new user/group

  • Apply to Systems-

    • Turn on the Apply to All toggle to apply to all systems available.

    • Otherwise, check each system to which you want to add the user or group to with the role.

Important information on Z groups:

When an a user is added in the Project team on a Z group, then the Z group would be also added, so if the user wants to remove that user from the directory tab, the user is removed, but the entire z group will not be removed currently.
