If you are using Windows 10 Anniversary Update (build 1607) or later, Power Desktop can read and write files with paths that exceed 260 characters via Windows' native long file path support.

To enable long paths in Windows 10

  1. Open the Start menu, type "gpedit.msc", and select Edit group policy from the search results to open the Local Group Policy Editor.

  2. In the sidebar, expand Computer Configuration → Administrative Templates → System, and select Filesystem.

  3. In the right-hand pane under Settings, double-click Enable Win32 long paths.

  4. At the top-left corner of the configuration dialog, select Enabled.

  5. Click OK to save your change.

Note: When exporting documents, Power Desktop cannot create a ZIP archive of the export folder if the any files in the folder have a full path that exceeds 260 characters.
