Creating a New Migration

The New Migration Wizard walks you through the process of configuring all of the required settings for a new migration project.

Opening

Upon opening the wizard, you will be greeted by the welcome screen. Click Next to move to the first configuration page.

In the Server field, enter the name of the SQL server hosting the source database.
Under "How should Cloud Migrator authenticate with the server?" and select either Windows Authentication or SQL Server Authentication.
If you selected SQL Server Authentication above, enter the User Name and Password of a SQL account with DBO access to the intended source database.
Click Next to verify the connection and continue.

In the drop-down list under "Which database contains the library you want to migrate?", select the source Work database.
In the drop-down list under "What is the database's schema version?", select 9.1 if the schema version is greater than 8.5 (this includes 10.x); otherwise, select 8.5.
In the field under "What is the name of the ODBC connection used by the source DMS?", update the default value if the library/ODBC connection name does not match the the name of the underlying database.
Click Next to continue.

If the blank database you intend to use for staging data is hosted by the same SQL server as the source database, check Use the same server as the source; otherwise, enter the name of the SQL server hosting the staging database.
If you are not using the same connection information as the source database, under "How should Cloud Migrator authenticate with the server?", select either Windows Authentication or SQL Server Authentication.
If you selected SQL Server Authentication above, enter the User Name and Password of a SQL account with DBO access to the intended staging database.
Click Next to verify the connection and proceed to the next screen.

Under "Which database will store the staging data?", open the drop-down menu and select the name of the blank database to which the source data will be copied.
Click Next to continue.

Under "By what name do you want to refer to the migration?", enter a name for the migration's settings file.
If you do not want to save the MIGRATION file to the default location (<User Forlder>\Documents\My Migrations), under "Where do you want to save the migration?", click Change..., select a new target folder, and click OK.
Click Next to continue to the Completing the Wizard screen, and then click Finish to close the wizard.
