Syncing Data to Staging
After creating a migration, the user is taken to the Source tab window. This is where the source to staging syncs occur.
Review the Checklists and Scripts before proceeding with the sync.
The Source tab contains the following information in the tables:
Source Database
Permissions | Allows User To |
---|---|
Name | The Database Name. E.g. Active |
Server | The server name. |
Type | Type of server (iManage, etc) |
Version | Version of iManage. Can be 8.5 or 9.1. For anything above 9.1 use that option. |
Note: Hover over tooltips are provided over key KPIs and buttons throughout Cloud Migrator.
Data Import Status
To view the status of Staging, go to Staging Statistics from the Tools menubar.
Category | Description |
---|---|
Workspaces | Shows the status of workspaces to sync. Shows new, updates (delta), and counts already imported previously. |
Folders | Shows the status of folders to sync. Shows new, updates (delta), and counts already imported previously. Note: Folder count does not include templates. This count includes search folders, folders and tabs. |
Documents | Shows the status of documents to sync. Shows new, updates (delta), and counts already imported previously. |
Document History | Shows the status of document history to sync. Shows new, updates (delta), and counts already imported previously. |
Click the Sync button to import data from the source database to the staging database.
In the Configure Data Import dialog, the Script Folder points to the default location of the data migration scripts. You may browse and edit the folder.
All the scripts from the data folder are displayed and selected by default in the import dialog. To exclude a script from running, deselect the box next to the script. To deselect all, click None. To select all, Click All.
Click Start. The Sync Status dialog displays the import progress and updates the status to Running.
On successful data import, the status in the bottom results panel tab is updated as Completed. In case of a failed import, the status is updated as Incomplete. The Start Date, End Date, and Copied Items will be displayed. In addition, the Imported counts in the Data Import Status panel will be updated. Click the Refresh button if it doesn't.
Note: The staging database is a temporary storage area where the data from the source database is placed for further data processing. No data processing is done in the source database.
In the results panel, there is an Options column next to each job.
Object Types can be found in this table here.
To view the job steps
Click Steps to see the job's steps and the number of items imported per step.
To view the job log
Click Log to view the log details. The log will show the Date/Time, Level, and Message.
Levels can be INFO, ERROR, and DEBUG. Info is for any information on the job, but that doesn't call for attention. Error is for any failure within the import. Debug is for development debugging.
Next to the message, the three dots (...) button is for viewing the complete message. Click it and the message appears. Hit Copy to copy it to the clipboard to send to support, or diagnose. Close will close the message.
To export the job log
At times, support may request an export of the job log, or the user may send it to support with an issue.
Click the Export button at the top of the Job Log to export the entire log. The log will be stored as a .log file.
Users can use any text editor to open the log up.
Once exported, the Job log displays in the bottom center, an Export Completed message.
