Recycle Bin
CAM now includes an updated recycle bin that will give users more control over managing recycled documents.
The advantage that the CAM recycle bin has over the built-in iManage Trash is that CAM supports both a user and administrative configuration for restoring documents in the recycle bin giving Service Desk users the ability to help restore without calling the helpdesk.
In CAM, if you send a document to the recycle bin, you can restore that document within a configured period, e.g., 7 days. Once the 7-day period expires, the user will no longer see the document in the recycle bin. However, there is an additional configuration where the Service Desk has additional time to restore the document. Again, this is configurable by the firm, but an example is 30 days. So the user can contact the help desk and get the document restored up to that additional time. Note, the user can still see the the documents within iManage’s trash bin.
We do support the configuration for the number of days the end-user is permitted to restore the documents as well as the number of days the administrators can restore the documents.
Workflow
The customer using CAM and iManage turns on the recycle bin in iManage.
Enable the permissions View Document Background Jobs tab, and View recycle bin documents.
In the Active Documents tab on the Documents screen, find a document that needs to be trashed, and select the Action Move to Recycle Bin.
Then, search for documents in the Recycle Bin tab on the Documents screen. Only recycled documents show up here.
If you want a recurring job to check for recycled documents to purge, go to the Background Jobs tab on the Documents screen.
Existing jobs display below. You can filter based on system, database, and intervals.
Click Create a new background job to add a new recycle bin background job.
The job will run and automatically purge the trash based on the timeframe.
The job shows on the Jobs tab in Admin.
To edit this job, go to Documents tab-> Background Jobs. You can edit the interval, disable it or delete it.
If you click Details, a full audit log will display.
