Tab

Overview

Tabs allow your members to access services and content in a dedicated space within a channel. Tabs also allow you to create and edit the corresponding file types in Teams.

Note: We can provision external system workspaces/cabinets as tabs in M365 teams with iManage and NetDocuments.

Configuring Tabs using Template Editor

Following are the steps to create a Tab:

  1. Click on Administration.

  2. Click on Template Editor. The following screen displays:

Folder name

Display folder name. Also, you can append the metadata name, which reflects on Teams.

Folder type

Select the folder type as “Tab“ from the list.

App Id

Enter app id - “com.microsoft.teamspace.tab.web”.

Default Security

Select security from the list.

Config JSON

Enter config JSON. Sample Config JSON provided below -

Show as

Select an option.

Prefix/Suffix

Select an option.

Note: To create a Tab for iManage or NetDocuments, the workspace should be associated with the respective matter.

  1. Click the Save button to create a Tab with metadata in Teams, as shown in the following screenshot:

Note: Tab names contain only 127 characters and do not start with underscore (_), or period (.), or end with a period (.). Do not include the following special characters in Tab name - ~ # % & * { } + / \ : < > ? | ' " , .

Configuring Custom Apps in Tab

You can configure a custom Tab in the app manifest of your CAM Teams app. You can also add custom apps to your Tabs like external systems such as iManage, NetDocuments, Trello, Microsoft Stream, etc.

To configure custom apps:

  1. Click on Administration.

  2. Click on Template Editor.

  3. In the Template Editor, select the Template you want to configure.

  4. Select the folder type as Tab.

  1. For the App Id, specify the name of the custom application (such as iManage or NetDocuments) that you want to manifest in Tab.

  2. Click the Save button to create a Tab with metadata in teams as shown in the following screenshot:
