Configuring Teams, Planner, OneNote, Tab, and OneDrive through Template Editor

Overview

Allows you to configure a planner, OneNote, Tab, or OneDrive through Template Editor. Template Editor allows to preconfigure a template so that provisioning of these items can be automated or configured to a standard.

Channels with Planner

To create channels with a planner using the Template Editor, use the following steps:

  1. In Template Editor, create a new template for Planner tab

  2. Select Microsoft365.

  3. Click Add folder and select folder type Channel.

  4. Click Save.

Note: Set the default security Public for the channel

Microsoft has a limitation where private channels cannot have a planner within.

  1. Select the Channel and click the icon in the row.

  2. Click Add folder at Channel level.

  3. Select folder type Planner.

  4. Click Save.

The template is now set up to create a Planner.

OneNote Tab inside Channels

  1. Select the Channel and click the icon in the row.

  2. Click Add Folder

  3. Select the Folder type OneNote.

  4. Select the newly added folder.

  5. In the right-hand Documents pane, in the Basic tab, configure the JSON as shown below to create sections

  6. Click Save.

The template is now set up to create a OneNote.

OneDrive

  1. In Template Editor, set the Name of the OneDrive.

  2. Select the type OnedriveFolder.

  3. Click Save.

The template is now set up to create a OneDrive.

  1. Click Add Folder and create Folder Structure inside OneDrive.

  2. For CSV parameters visit Create OneDrive

Note: OneDrive will be visible to Users added based on their role and it cannot be part of a Channel.

Tabs

If you are creating a website tab for iManage or NetDocuments or any other website link, Microsoft will no longer load the site on the channel. Allows to create Tabs on any website.

  1. In Template Editor, set the Name of the Tab.

  2. Select the type Tab.

  3. Set the App Id, WebURL and Configuration JSON

Note: Tab names can only contain 127 characters and do not start with underscore (_), or period (.), or end with a period (.). Do not specify the following special characters - ~ # % & * { } + / \ : < > ? | ' " ,.

Application Id

Enter application id for the following-

  1. For the Application id for a website - com.microsoft.teamspace.tab.web

  2. For the applicationId for sharepoint - com.microsoft.teamspace.tab.files.sharepoint

contenturl

Enter the website URL or root folder URL for the document library

e.g. https://{domainName}/Shared%20Documents

  1. Click Save.

The template is now set up to create a Tab.

Configuring an external User in a Template

This allows you to add an external user when adding users in a team or a channel.

  1. In Template Editor, navigate to the Security tab

  2. Click New Member. The following screen will display:

  1. Specify an external email address.

  2. Click Save to add the external mail id or click Cancel to close the dialog.

Adding an external user to a channel

  1. Specify an external email address on the right side in Members

  2. Click Save to add the external mail id or click Cancel to close the dialog.

 

Creating Private Channels

  1. Configure a Template for office365 with field channel= private

  2. Configure the Request workflow wizard for office365 for Create Team

Users are shown as expected in a paginated table in Team Access and Private Channel Access. If there are more than 3 users in the table, only 3 are shown. View All and View/Edit All are shown for Teams access and Private Channel access respectively.

  1. On the Add Security window, click on Add members (users) for Team Access. Users that have been added from Add Security will be shown on the Security member list. A button will be shown as-> Add Below Team Members To All Private Channels.

  2. Turn on the button and the users in the Security member list will be added to the private channel.

When deleting a member from the grids, the popup message shows “Are you sure you want to delete the selected user?”

  1. Turn off the button and in the private channel no user will be shown.

  2. On the Private channel check the button +Add Members.

  3. Check the Select/Deselect button for the relevant users.

  4. Check the View all button to delete multiple users by selecting them to remove from the Team Access.

  5. Edit Role for the users.
