Metadata (Create, Disable, Modify)
Overview
Metadata is information about your document and is generally known as "data about data". A Create Metadata job allows you to add metadata values against existing Lookup type Metadata Fields. You can add metadata values against CAM, iManage, NetDocuments, and/or Office365 existing Lookup type Metadata Fields.
Supporting CSV Parameters
Do not use non-alphanumeric characters in metadata key names or ID’s. The only supported non-alphanumeric character is underscore.
Metadata Field | When Required | Supported Values | Description | Example |
---|---|---|---|---|
Job | Mandatory | CreateMetadata | Allows you to create metadata value. |
|
Look Up Metadata Fields You Want To Add Values To | Mandatory | String | These are the Lookup Metadata fields that you want to add values to. | To download sample sample create metadata.csv, click Here |
Document_number | Optional | String | Adds the document number metadata. For service desk, you need to ensure _ is in the parameter document_number | Document_number: 1234 |
Systems | Recommended | String The accepted values are - IManage, CAM, NetDocuments, Office365 Case sensitive
| If you do not include this column, or leave it blank, CAM will assume you wish to add a value to a CAM only Lookup type Metadata Field. It is strongly advised that you use this column. | This replaces the ‘CreateInIManage’, ‘CreateInNetDocuments’ and ‘CreateInOffice365’ columns, although these are still supported. If you use these create parameter columns instead, the supported values are 1 (true) or 0 (false) |
Security | NetDocuments Only - Optional | String | The format for the security column: [useremail] | {allow or deny=true or false] # [expiration date] * [role] $ [isGroup=true or false] For more information see the video, click here | This column assigns security of NetDocuments Metadata. For example, you are adding a ClientId value via a CreateMetdata job and want a user (stated in the Security Column) to be able to access any workspaces with this Client Id Examples: User: Bob.bradley@demo-firm.com|true#NULL*Admin$false Group: Partners|true#NULL* If multiple entries are included in this column, separate each entry by a comma and save the file as tab delimited. CAM will recognize a tab-delimited file when uploading as a CSV file in the Jobs tab. |
Server | Optional | String | If not included, CAM will use the default server set within External System Configuration. |
|
Database | iManage Only - Optional | String | If not included, CAM will use the default database set within External System Configuration. |
|
CabinetName | NetDocuments Only - Optional | String | You can use either CabinetName or CabinetId. If not included, CAM will use the default Cabinet set within External System Configuration. |
|
CabinetID | NetDocuments Only - Optional | String | You can use either CabinetName or CabinetId. If not included, CAM will use the default Cabinet set within External System Configuration. |
|
Queue | Optional | 1 | Include this column if you use the same CSV/script again with no changes to the values. |
|
CopyFrom | Metadata Mapping-> CopyFrom | DatabaseName | Copy From will copy all metadata mapping attributes from a database to another database. | MyWorksiteDatabase |
Autodiscover | Metadata Mapping-> Autodiscover | 1/0 | Auto discover will only add mappings that don’t exist for a metadata item or custom metadata. It will not remove or update existing mappings. | Autodiscover=1 |

To disable metadata
In the csv in the column of the metadata field, append ?false at the end of the column which sends to the system to disable it.
E.g. In the custom10 column, you can set custom10 as custom10idnumber?false. This disables the custom10 metadata field.
To enable, set the field as id?true.
Sample CSVs
